I love to try new dishes when I am on holiday because they give me inspiration in my own cooking. There is nothing better than discovering delicious local food when you’re on your travels, and trying to recreate them when you get home. This delicious “peasant” dish is most definitely one of those for me.
When I was a little girl I can remember my sisters and I helping my Mum to make the cake. We would take the skins of the almonds, chop the cherries (without eating any of course!) and just generally be involved in the whole process of making it.
