Golden Christmas Cake – a twist on the festive favourite
When I was a little girl I can remember my sisters and I helping my Mum to make the cake. We would take the skins of the almonds, chop the cherries (without eating any of course!) and just generally be involved in the whole process of making it. This to me was the start of Christmas, all the busy preparation months ahead of the big event. It was part of my mother’s family tradition and of course she passed it onto me and I tried (I really did!) to pass it on to my sons.
